The Values-Based Adviser is coming to London

People increasingly want to invest they money in a way that reflects their personal values.

It may have been seen as a niche sector ten years ago, but sustainable investing is becoming mainstream. It's also expected to grow considerably over the next few years.

Financial advice firms and investment consultancies that fail to engage with their clients about their values — and creating an investment portfolio that matches those values — will be left behind.

I recently compèred an event in Leeds called The Values-Based Adviser, which was designed to help advisers and consultants respond to these changes.

I’m delighted to announce that we’ll be holding a similar event at the Amba Hotel Charing Cross in London on Friday 25th October. It will be sponsored by Global Systematic investors, which takes an evidence-based approach to sustainable investing.

At the event you will learn:

— how sustainable investing is bringing about positive change;

— what clients really think about using sustainable funds;

— how advice firms should communicate with clients about values;

— what the evidence says on whether there's a performance penalty to pay for investing with your conscience; and

— how to combine a sustainable approach with factor-based investing.

The keynote speaker is David Pilling, Africa Editor for the Financial Times. Andrew is going to be talking about his new book, The Growth Delusion, in which he argues that we need to learn how to value what makes economies better, not just what makes them bigger.

We will also be hearing from Dr Jake Reynolds from the Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership at the University of Cambridge.

The other speakers are Andrew Cain, Garrett Quigley and Bernd Hanke from Global Systematic Investors, and Max Tennant from Ifamax Wealth Management. I will again be acting as compère.
