An interview with Paul Armson

June 13, 2017

My guest on this episode of the Intelligent Adviser is Paul Armson.

Paul became a Financial Adviser back in 1982. Over 35 years, he describes how he became “increasingly frustrated with the self-serving, vested interests of the financial services industry”, making it his mission to “start telling consumers the truth about money.”

He now runs Inspiring Advisers, a training resource for advisers who want to genuinely help their clients. He also organises the annual BACK2Y conference, which started as a dare from a friend but has now become a key date in the diary for forward-thinking planners in the UK and Europe.

We discuss:

  • The important difference between financial planning and investment advice

  • The impact on advisers of Vanguard’s new direct-to-consumer offering in the UK

  • What advisers need to do in response to the current “perfect storm” taking place in the financial advice profession

  • Paul’s new book, “Enough?”

Regular listeners to Intelligent Adviser also have a £100 discount on tickets to BACK2Y 2017. Listen to the podcast to find out how to claim this special offer.
